Any info on C. pasploides

Hello,

I'm in the process of setting a seahorse species tank, and wanted some macros for the display. C. pasploides was recommended, but I have not been able to find any info on it.

Was wondering if anyone has had expierance with this or can point me to some info on it. Picture would also be helpful.

Thanks for your help,

Jimmy

I've been growning paspaloides for a while now and here is my setup. It's in a 33 long tank, 48"x13"x16". I've got two 40 watt bulbs on it, a 10,000K and an actinic bulb. I've also got seahorses in the tank, along with a few zooanthids, small polyp colonies. I have to go through and weed out a bunch of new growth every few weeks. Not sure what else you'd like to know about it. PM me if you have any other questions or if you'd like to possibly get some of mine when I weed it out.

Thanks for the info, it was helpful. Few more questions:

Do your seahorses use the paspaloides for hitching posts?

Is it hard to harvest? In otherwords, does it have strong roots that latch on LR? Is it hard to contain in an area?

I want some macros for my sea horse tank, and have no problem harvesting it. I want a species that will suite the seahorses, look nice, and will not spread like wild fire and take a tank over.

So, I guess I'm asking, if given the choice, would you place some paspaloides in your tank again?

I made the mistake of adding Xenia to my SPS tank. Needless to say that after awhile, it was taking my tank over. I ended up scrubbing some of my LR to get rid of every last piece. I don't want to make a similiar mistake with my macro selection.

I appreciate your help - Thanks again,

Jimmy

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If I were to do it over again I would again without hesitation.

Insofar as harvesting the holdfasts aren't too bad about getting in and staying in, however the one thing I have personally noticed is that the rhizome seems to be a bit more rubbery than some of the other macros. So when you harvest you'll want something nice and sharp to cut it with.

When speaking on the hitching, they do hitch in it, I've got two small kudas (the real deal) and they love the paspaloides. My barbouri seems to prefer the yellow deep sea gorgonian I have in there as well as the C. crassifolia. I haven't noticed the same growth burst on the crassifolia as I have seen on the paspaloides. I would say either is going to be a good choice for a seahorse tank.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

No problem on the deley. I'm few months away from adding sea horses, so I have plently of time.

You provided all the info I need. I think I will go with the paspaloides and perhaps some crassifolia as well.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's always helpful to tap into other's expierance.
