Any strong (reasonably priced) magnets?

I am having a bit of trouble finding strong enough magnets for a seio 1500 mount that won't corrode on me. I already have the Hagen magnets and have found that they are corroding badly from the inside out. I really don't want to spend more than 50-60 dollars on a decent magnet (definitely not $100 that some folks want). I saw the Tunze cleaning magnets--is the $25 one strong? How about Magnavore or Algae Free magnet strengths? Anyone used these on a larger seio? I have to find one quickly so I can get the corroding Hagens out ASAP.

Depends on the thickness of your tank. I have the tunze magnet for my 75G, and I'm sure it would hold a seio provided the dimensions are correct for mounting.

I thought about those, although other people say they aren't all that strong compared to some other brands. How strong are the magnavore and algae-free brands? about what size would I need for a seio 1500? I hate to spend that much, but I will if I have to.

I found an entire box (30 magnets) of rare earth magnets on ebay about a month ago for $30. I almost bought them even though I didn't need them at the time. Put a coat of epoxy on them and you're good to go.

yeah, those rare earth magnets are called neodymium.... super strong, maybe you could find some coated or something for saltwater...or the epoxy idea might work, only thing is that these magnets are really brittle

Besides Hagen, what magnets do folks usually use to mount these things? Like I said earlier, I am leaning toward magnavore, since a lot of people are saying they are strong. Any truth to this? or would I be better off getting a handful of epoxy coated neodymium magnets and just gluing them to the mount?

As another poster stated, the large Mag Float magnets work well for me. I just super glued it 4-5 months ago and haven't had any problems.

I just noticed the large Mag floats for acrylic over about 3/4" are crazy-expensive. I'm using the cheaper ones on my All Glass 55 right now, and I was looking to do something similar for my new tank, but that's a crazy price for a freakin' magnet (I think it was in the vicinity of $100).

I tried the door magnets which were recommended by another post but had to attach 2 of them to a seio to keep it on, so wouldnt recommend that

Can you actually use the tunze magnets on a seio? How do you attach them?

I have used the Tunze stream magnets with a Seio.

There is a removable piece in this magnet that attaches to the stream and allows you to direct the stream. I attach the seio to this using some of the Seio fittings and super glue. Works like a charm:D .

I am using these to mount my seios. They work great!

Yeah, I use mag floats for mounting pumps. The $20 one works fine. If you think $100 is a lot for a magnet, you should check out my Magnavore 10. I think it was about $300. It is a total beast. I think it could hold about 100 pounds through 1 inch glass.

I got a piece of skin stuck in it once and it popped all the blood vessels in my arm within an inch of the area.
