Anybody ever try Filefish in their reefs?

I believe that they eat SPS polyps and that is why they are listed as not reef compatible. Someone in the large tank forums has one in a 1700 gallon reef tank but his system is so big that it does not adversly effect the SPS he has since there are so many.

From WetWebMedia:

Pervagor spilosoma (Lay & Bennett 1839), the Fantail Filefish. Eastern Pacific, principally Hawai'i where it's occasionally shipped out of. To seven inches overall length. Feeds on algae and benthic invertebrates, including corals. Hawai'i photo.

K1971 is talking about the orange spot filefish, an obligate corallivore, SPS I believe specifically.

Sorry, no first hand experience with the fantail in a reef. I wouldn't think them any more reef safe than any other filefish.
