Anybody have a Wave2K wavemaker

I think that's what they're called. One is a corner box the other is a dual box for the back of the tank. If they work properly it would be a really cool - no power heads. I was just wondering if they make a mess of the sand since the alternating cycles are high and low in the tank.

Anybody have one and what do you think? Would a corner one tsunami a 40 breeder or just produce high flow?

Thanks - Laurie

Yep, Ive got one on my 90g and love it. Its the center unit and can really push a good amount of water. There isn't any problem with the sand being blown around, as the unit doesn't sit quite low enough to do so. Overall, I am very happy with it...I'll try to post some pics later.

Here's a pic from when I first upgraded to the 90g in the summer. I didn't have a background up so it stuck out like a sore thumb. Its now covered in coraline and blends in much better with a background on the tank...

Also heres a side view of the unit. This is the motor section that runs the gear to create the flow. It probably hangs about 4" off the back

don't these units have alot of problems, I have seen many post about people just putting them in the garage or closet because they would not work

Thanks - I would be considering a corner unit because it would be a 40 breeder. It actually might be too tall for a 16" high tank. I'll have to look into it more closely.

Good to know you're not having problems. As with any equipment, if it works like it's supposed to, it's great.

If you contact the company the owner will customize the motor to mount more flush if you don't have enough room behind your tank.

They had some problems in the beginning with the pulley and belt. This has been fixed. I have one but have not had the opportunity to use it but I have spoke to several people who have and they say these are great.

Hmm. I haven't had any problems at all, and their customer service seems great too. I wanted to lower the unit down further into my tank and they had no problem with shipping out spacers for me. They also sent out a new improved gear without even asking for one. I've also heard that they run noisy, but like I said, I have had no problems so far. The thing runs completely silent...

is there any chance of anything getting stuck in the intake when it is sucking water in? that seams like that could happen pretty easily.

Hmmm, this is sounding better and better. Would the corner one be too much flow for a 40 breeder anemone tank? It says low to medium for a 55.

Never mind - looks like it would be a little too tall for a 40 breeder. Nice idea if I change my mind on tank size, though.

Thanks for all the replies.

Laurie
