Anybody have Aquapod24 w/Sunpod?

Either the 70 or 150W MH? It looks like a nice set-up. I saw one today at the LFS and they are asking $370 (for the 70 W)including 20 lb. live sand, heater, 24 gal. RO water, and a couple of other things I wouldn't need. The only extras would be rock and a stand and fish and coral, of course ;) .

Does this sound like a good price?

Thx - Laurie

Hi Laurie,

I was reading this tonight. Not sure if this is what you are asking, but it sounds like it. It doesn't sound too good to me.

As promised here are the pictures of the replacment AquaPod 24 gallon tank from Dr. F&S

Think this one will hold water? So, I gave up. It was not double boxed as they said it would be. So I asked for additional return shipping labels so I can return all of the broken tanks/stand/HQI fixture. I think I might just grab a 24 Nano Cube locally. At least I'd know if it were broken before I left the store. :)

On a side note... anyone thinking about getting the HQI version, the SunPod's fan is very loud! I've heard the fans in the hood's are not exactly quiet, but this thing sounds like a small leaf blower when running! :)

I don't know if it's all Dr F&S's fault the more and more I start to think about it. It seems they simply ship back out what they receive from Current USA. It makes me wonder if they are not getting them broken (and not taking the time to check) before shipment to customers.

Back to the drawing board... it appears fate is telling me the AquaPod is not the right choice for me.

That is a great price. Even better if its from your LFS - - no shipping mishaps that comes with glass aquariums.

You should get it. Your corals will thank you especially for the nice MH lighting.

As far as the Tank it's self goes I do believe it is as nice as the NanoCube, and being able to get it from LFS is even better. However on the lighting in the post above didn't sound to great to me. Other than that is is great.

Wow, rotten luck with those Aquapods Mary. You finally went with the Nanocube - it has a bigger footprint anyway. I was looking at them side by side and even though the Aquapod goes back in the middle the Nanocube is deeper inside by an inch or so all the way across.

That's a shame about the fans being so loud. I was at another LFS yesterday and they had the 'Pod24 set up with some kind of MH fixture on it and the whole thing was amazingly quiet. They even had the Fision skimmer in it and all I could hear was a tiny trickle of water if I got really close. I'll have to call them and find out what kind of fixture it was.

It wasn't me that went through this. It was the person who I quoted Originally posted by ASpec. I had just read it. You can click on it and it will take you to the thread where this was posted if you want to read more.

If the one you saw is quiet then go for it :)

I can just go by what I have, and I don't have the MH fixture in this one. I just have the reg stock lighting, and it is fine for what I want it for. I really like the closed in tank with the lid. I have a 85gal cube also that I have MH on. that one is turning into Lps and Sps tank with a few softies. My Nano is really just for softies.

A lot of people are just as happy with the Aquapod.

I went through a couple of tanks before I got a winner. That sounds like a good price for the MH version. ...and if you are picking it up you won't have to go through what I did..;)
...glad to hear f&s have gone to some better packing.
