Anyone ever paint their stand black?

humpn247, That looks very nice. Got a real nice shine to it. Did you go over the paint with anything? Got a pic or link to the paint?

didn't go over with anything after painting it. was just real patient while painting with fine brush. also did a lot of sanding, even sanded between coats. also used rustoleum primer first..

I bought everything at wal-mart. The paint says for metal but it works on wood too.

rustoleum - "stops rust" line.

also used this for primer-

let dry a good 1 1/2 to 2 days before sanding/coats, maybe even more.

the oil-based paint is also nice because it pretty much water proofs the wood.

let me know if you have any other questions. be more than happy to help.

I'd rather not see the wood grain when it comes to a black stand. I does'nt look like you can see it in humpn247's stand. What grit sand paper are you all useing?

I didn't really need to sand the wood that much, only where I filled the screw holes with wood filler. I used higher quality plywood which was real smooth without imperfections.

I used a semi-fine sandpaper when sanding between coats.

Hope that helps.
