Anyone ever taken fish with them on a plane?

Yup. has to be checked luggage though. Some airlines will hassle you. Calling does no good due to the disconnect between the field and the office.

I always pack in a styro/cardboard box from a LFS with a couple inner liners and one around the box itself. Heat packs are a must but don't go overboard with them. Don't seal it before you tell them what is in it. Sometimes they'll want to see it. Just be upfront about it.

I caught some fish in Maui last year and stopped off at a LFS before my flight. They bagged them with oxygen for me. I put them in my checked bag and they all made it.

Make sure
1. It's legal to bring whatever you have. It would be a drag to have livestock confiscated.
2. You have livestock in stryro containers. In the event of a delay, the luggage can sit out on the runway for a long time. I lost a bunch when it sat on the runway in Denver for 4 hours in the cold.
