Looking to get a aquapod from my LFS. Hes giving it to me wholesale. Anyone have one I can get both the 12gal 24gal and the 24gal with MH light. Im wondering about the lighting. I think the PC on the standard ones are 24 watts. Also show me some pics. What corals are you keeping. The 24 watt light isnt that much ligh. For the 12 its fine but the 24. Let me know what you think about these compaired to the JBJ nanos

I have the AquaPod 12g and for the most part, I have no major issues with it.

Actual the light output is 2x27w. You have a 1x27w Dual Daylight and a 27w Dual Actinic

Some minor complaints are: the light leak around the front where the lid bottom and tank frame meet. Plan on your tanking dripping roughly a tablespoon or so of water per day down the front and sides of your tank. Plan on much more dripping down the back of your tank if you open the lid. The leaking water is due to evaporation and can be avoided by leaving the food lid open 24-7. Although not necessary, most people make two simple mods to their tank to improve performance. These two mods are the cassette mod for the surface skimmer and switching the built-in pump with a MaxiJet 900. You can find pictures by using Google but RC actually has some good threads on the subject.

Major issue: Make sure your 12g has a white label with a date, UPC code and digits inside the lid on the bottom left. If not, you have the recalled version. Just search Google for AquaPod recall.

I've got the 24 AP, but have only had it set up for about a week, so can't comment on much. The constructions seems inline with the price, and I do not get light leaking around the top, and no dripping down the front. I really like the all in one concept, as well as the overall look of this tank however, I know many people on here aren't too fond of this.

My LFS has had a Nano cube 12 and 24 set up for several years, stock, and both have some really nice coral growing in them under PC's.

The 24 lighting is 64 watts PC, had my system running for about 2 months and no problem. Check to make sure the tank isn't cracked before you buy. You can replace the stock return pump with a maxijet 900 or 1200 (not a fan of the stock pump, runs hot) Had the Fission skimmer, wasn't thrilled with it so I wouldn't waste the money, it's very water level sensitive, petermai did some modding if you search the threads.

bang for the buck a pretty good system, you get what you pay for, there are some really nice ones running, do a thread search.

good luck

theres a posting on here about a 120W lighting modification thats seems pretty easy to do. I'm in the process of doing this. If all goes good, I'll be happy with the Aquapod with the improved lighting. Check it out!
