Anyone know anything about black bugs?

I have heard a little bit about a new acro pest people have been calling "œblack bugs". My acros are not looking very happy and I'm wondering if I have them. I've had red bugs before but these look different. They look and behave kind of like red bugs but they are a little bigger, black, and rounder. They look kind of like little poppy seeds running around on my acros. I am setting up a quarantine tank and planning to dip and move all the acros out of the infested tank and use the "œstarve them out" technique. If the dip doesn't work I'm planning to hit the quarantine tank with the normal three doses of interceptor. I'm planning to let the display tank be acro free for about a month. Does anyone know anything about black bugs, or whatever I may have, and if interceptor and the "œstarve them out" approach will work with them?

Thanks!

they are probably all over the rocks just that you can see it easier on the SPS.
seems like they are just a kind of pods, until someone have a picture of them swarming an acropora like red bugs do, I would not believe they are pests.

That's exactly what I'm wondering. I see them all over my acros and I have never seen them in the past. I've only recently heard about "black bugs" and am wondering if it's them. They are quite a lot of them on my acros, not as many as like you would get with red bugs but they are larger.

Denadai: Could you elaborate a little bit? Did your black bugs look like what I describe? I'm not sure what ascaridil is. Is it iodine? I coulden't get much on Google about it.

I would like to get a few more first hand accounts from anyone who has actually seen and/or had to deal with "black bugs".

I will try and post a picture, but I'm pretty would just look like a black dot. I don't have a microscope to get a good close-up.

Thanks for the help...

Believe because those bugs was eating my corals

I have seen one or two very occasionally but no problem. That's not to say we are looking at two completely different creatures.
