I am looking for some really big water bins. They need to have an open top design something along the lines of a macro bin. I believe they also call them bulk container bins. Ive been checking craigslist but have only been able to buy x2 of the shallow and smaller macro bins. I need 2-4 of a bin thats close to 48"x48"x48" doesnt have to be exact.

Anyone know of anywhere I can find these. Id prefer to buy them used for a decent price if at all possible and I dont mind driving anywhere to get them if you have any ideas let me know.

Something like these

Second thought. Contact Peter at Aquarium Connection in Simi Valley. 805-584-6664. Tell him Scott referred you and that I said he may have some of the plastic bins from the old shop. I may swing by there tomorrow and if so, I will inquire in case you don't beat me to it.

Damn ... who dont you know. lol I will give him a call tomorrow, I know exactly which bins your talking about I used to go in that store quite often.. I caught the bug bad this time around... and the ideas just keep getting bigger and bigger.

All i can seem to find on craigslist are the IBC totes that have the galvanized steel cage around them. Thought about just cutting the cage and tank to make what i need but not sure how thick the plastic is or if it would create any bowing of the sides.

I've known Pete for over 20 years now. He's a good guy. His son Andrew took over the business when they moved a few months ago. Last I heard, most of their old system was in storage so you may be in luck with him.

I will keep my eye out else where too. Let me know what you find out when you talk to him. I will probably be going by there in a couple hours anyway.

Many people cut the top 12" of the cage and plastic off without issues. They're very popular in the aquaponics hobby. For $100 on CL they're pretty cheap

Thanks Scott
Just spoke with Pete he said he thinks he has 3 he could sell me. He's gonna give me a call back with a price later today. I also have him checking on a price for a Reeflo tigershark.
Thanks again for all the help

Glad to help! If he can't get you a good deal on the Tiger Shark, check with Marine Depot and use coupon code NOCALTAX to avoid tax. They will match any online price you find online too. That said, hasn't the Tiger Shark been discontinued? Worst case, I've got an extra Dart I will be selling for $150 although it's not a pressure pump, it may work depending on what you are using it for.

Ok thanks.
I will check marine depot. I had no idea they were discontinued.Hopefully he calls me back about the bins later today. I will see what I can find online and price match. I found one in the classifieds for a reasonable price shipped. But I am still a little leary of buying off of the classifieds. I still have that dart I bought off lowerance it s the older style AO smith motor not the new baldors. I also found 2 brand new hammerhead golds so worst case I may go with two of the hammerheads. Picked up a ORCA skimmer from another member last weekend and just finished installing a new seal on the dart. All I can say about the orca is damn it makes a ton of bubbles and stays very consistent and needs very little adjustment. So I am pleased with the parts I have so far just need to finish gathering the bins and a couple schedule 80 bulk heads.

If your anywhere near Tustin,ca. There is a company called Ronco plastics incorporated. They make all sizes of tanks right on site. Any size and any color you want for a great price. They can also add many different man holes, PVC connections, etc... Anywhere on the tank. I highly recommend them. Great company.

To give you an idea on price. I just got two 30 gallon tanks 18"d x 40"tall for $40 each brand new and the exact color I wanted with built in PVC connections where I wanted. Try finding a better deal on the web. Everywhere I looked they where $100 each at that same size, not to mention $80 shipping for each.

I went by there earlier. He told me he was going to get back to you. If you didn't hear back from him today, call him tomorrow. He thought he had 3 in storage. I think Andrew was going to verify it. It should be a really fair price and these are really sturdy ones too as you are probably aware.

JUST spoke with him. He has 3 he is gonna sell me. Says I can pick them up next weekend when he goes out to his storage.thanks again for all the help in finding the bins. There gonna work out perfect for what I have in mind.
