I have been about as hardcore of a fish nut as one can be for the last 5 years but as I have recently turned my focus more towards my powerlifting training I have not been able to dedicate as much time to the fish hobby anymore. I am working towards turning pro next year and have really been busting my butt with my training so now I'm looking to sell my tank and wanted to see if there is any interest locally in this huge tank it is glasscages 130x26x24 with a custom made stand and canopy. It is starphire glass as well with dual overflows. I'll be keeping my 150g inwall tank and will be keeping my favorite fish for it till I get more time to get back in. This tank is 2 years old and I bought it in December 2009 from a guy in Louisville who was original owner. The tank was $4000 new, not counting the cost of the stand and canopy to be built. I am asking the same price I paid for the tank and stand which is $2000. I will also have over 500 pounds of great live rock that I'll be parting with as well. All of the sand that is in the tank goes with the new owner, there is several hundred pounds. I'll leave this up here locally for a week or so then it will go off to the classifieds. Msg me

This is truly a sad day. I hate to see another fish nerd leave, but good to hear you will be keeping the 150. Any chance of seeing your tank before you break it down, wish i had the room for that monster, I would ten times rather have a glass tank. What fish are you planning to keep?

Haven't really decided what ones I'll keep yet Terry. You're welcome to come look at it whenever man just let me know when. I have alot of big fish so homing them is not going to be easy. LMK if you're interested in any of them.

i was interested before you bought it...

im interested now..

but, i dont have 2k to drop on a tank, or the motivation to do the upkeep...

but, if you want, you can bring it to my house to run while you look for a buyer :D

Jason what fish do you have left? What are you going to do with bubba, im not interested in him just wondering.

I have gone round and round with this. I keep telling myself that winter is around the corner and then I'll have more time for it then the other part of me says no I don't have time for it so I'm trying to weigh what to do right now.

Dude, I think if you get rid of it, your'e going to kick yourself later. Maybe you should reduce your bioload, and that way you won't have as much maintenance. What is taking up the majority of your maintenance? Maybe I, or someone else can chime in to help minimize some upkeep on the system.

Mainly water changes and keeping my skimmer cleaned out. As you know with a heavy stocked tank the skimmer cup has to be cleaned about every 3 days or the smell is just ungodly. I've been thinking of moving the sump to my garage to make maintenance easier and to not have to smell the skim, as well as to make access to cleaning skimmer cup easier as well. If I do this I will just switch to a big rubbermaid sump. I jut worry about the major temperature swings in our area.

Temp swings could really be an issue. How often are you doing water changes, and what volume? Maybe you can inrease the amount of water, and change it less frequently. I do water changes once every 2 months, so it's not a big deal at all, once every 60 days. I know exactly what you are saying about skimmate, and I have been contemplating making a carbon containing lid to set on top of the factory one. This should greatly reduce the smell.

no room for a carbon lid in my current setup. I am pretty sure I am going to construct a large wood cabinet from 2x4's and 3/4" plywood lined with sheet insulation to put in my garage to house a 100g rubbermaid sump and all my water topoff and water change accessories. Maybe with it being insulated it will help keep temp regulated.

If you have the option of a floor drain you could implement a system to make your water changes much quicker with the extra space, you could add some barrels of rodi and mixed Saltwater. Sounds like youve reevaluated. It would be a shame to lose a fellow fish nerd with the experience as you have, and such a beautiful tank.

I'm not out of the clear just yet. This is just me looking at last resort options to get things simplified and more household friendly (smells)
