From the spectral plot on Sanjay's sight it looks like the 250w SE bulbs may have the look of a 14k with better par...big spike in the blue range.

The XM 20k is too blue!

Never had any problems with Corulvue. Had one bulb fail, but it was replaced no questions asked and they are working beautifully now.

Just finished testing the 400W version (actually performed by RedEyeReef using a PFO HQI ballast) and the PAR is excellent for high light shallow water Acroporas. I'm running one next to an Ushio and the color is slightly more blue/white and brighter (higher PAR). The 400W bulb makes the acros that appear purple under the Ushio look more blue. It also makes pink and red corals look better IMO. It has only been running about a month. I will check the PAR in 6 months and then again at one year to see how it holds up.

Regards,
Kevin

I have a very big feeling that the Reeflux bulbs are very similar in output, maybe exact, to the very first run of Coralvue 10k's that were out a couple years ago.

if it is like the original bulb (without the side effects) that would be awesome.my original cv10k's were the brightest, pure white bulb i've ever ran.

getwood65,

I completely agree. They are the most white lamps on the market, with good numbers behind them. Unfortunately I too suffered from the bleaching issues with those first round of lamps.

Just for the records, I have put two of these lamps in over a couple of sps tanks to see what they do. They have been running for right at about a week now.

I think the standard coralvue 10k has the best color of any 10k bulb out there, and it seems very bright as well. It's hard to tell what the PAR really is since Sanjay's results showed one bulb about doubled the other's PAR?

I haven't had any problems in 3 months on a magnetic ballast.
The reeflux's spectral plot looks even better, but haven't seen em in action. Waiting to hear experiences.

Why are people scared of these bulbs?

customaquatic has them for 5 bucks cheaper plus the 5% reefcentral discount but they're backordered...

alright who's the guinea pig

I will try to take a couple of shots tomorrow and post them. I have them side by side in 36" PFO reflectors over a 48"x48" cube. I also have 2 Actinic VHO's running with each of them.

Regards,
Kevin

i'm loving what it's doing for me....i've been running the bulb for about a month now and all my acro's have colored up....but what has amazed me is the growth that i've gotten so far in just this past month......i can say that i've only got one browned-out coral left...
