Anyone using an Aquarium controller?

I have been toying with the idea of adding a controller to my new cube. Was just wandering if anyone is using one. If so which and what are your opinions of it?

I am thinking about an Aquacontroller Jr. or Reefkeeper 2.

The aquacontroller seems like it's more flexible because of the programming language but the RK2 looks nice too though.

Wanting opinions on any controller :D

Completely off topic Matt, & sorry to ask... (well not really :p) Do you have any pics of your new cube yet?

Im not sure if you have seen the new features of the RK2. If you have are their any features not included that you wish were?

For what it is worth, Sonya and I are talking about getting the RK for the 120 that is being built... I thought about the AC III but the cost difference will allow me to add a few failsafe backup monitors for critical things like Ph, and temp. Sounds kind of funny coming from me, but in this instance, I want to have indivdual controllers with a secondary monitoring system - so if anything fails, it's an only a one thing such as lights or ORP or PH that is impacted by the loss of the controller scenario.

Not sure if that makes sense and I have not actually ordered it yet - so I may reverse course and get the AC III.... I can say that I know folks that are happy with both so it's all about how you prefer to control your tank!

I also realize that we are talking about different models of products RK and AC III vs RK 2 and AC jr... however I'm more replying to the methodolgy vs. the actual hardware.

I have the RK1 Matt and love this thing. It makes life a lot easier IMO. The RK2 just came out and WOW! if I didnt have the RK1 I would be getting it. I toyed with the idea of selling my RK1 and getting the 2 but got to many other things to get... maybe one day though. I think the RK2 pH option is a great addition, plus I think you get 2 extra ports on the plug-in box. I also like the option of having a device come on and go off multiple times a day, like a kalk reactor or special lighting. Price is great and no need to send it in to upgrade it as it can now be done over the net. Plus, the dark black body with those blue LEDs it rocks :D

I use ReefKeeper 1 and I am looking at RK2 but not sure if it has enough to make me upgrade at this time. Love the new features. The RK1 best purchase I have made.

I think as Ron mentioned the PH would be great and the RK2 would eliminate my additional timer setup for kalk reactor.

I use 7 of the available 8 outputs and if heat were not such an issue, I would only be using 6 of 8 so capacity is not an issue currently with the original version.

Sounds like lots of happy folks are using the RK.

I am still a bit concerned about its flexibility though. I just posted in both the Digital Aquatics and Neptune forums about a task I wanted the controller to do and only the AQ could do it because it uses a 'programming language' vs the 'settings' of the RK.

Anyone using a Neptune product?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
Thanks for all the feedback! I had no idea so many were using a controller.

I have an AC jr. I have not started using it yet. I got it from PAs group buy. I think they still have it going on.

Well i went on ahead ordered the AC Jr. It was a tough decision but the Jr. just seemed like it would do more of what i wanted. Also it could control 12 devices instead of the Rk2's 8. The RK2 appearance wise looked much cooler. They both seem to be pretty comparable and good products.

Thank you everyone for your comments!
