Anyone using artificial corals in there FOWLR?

Getting a little tired with the appearance of my FOWLR which is just loaded with live rock. Thinking maybe I should add some visual appeal. My tank is a 125 g with approximately 150 lbs of LR. I was thinking I might mount some artificial corals to my LR to jazz things up so to speak.

I would love to see pics of other tanks that utilize artificial corals in their setups. What if any are the negatives of such a setup?

Appreciate your feedback!

Yes I have and I liked the look for awhile but then went back to rock only, reason is after awhile i got bored w the look never had algae problems w them but I filter my tanks like a reef tank good flow ,skimmer ,w media polyfilter and small regular water changes, Plus I bought Museum grade specimens from OCEANAQUARIA and had some from the now defunct natures image.

Here's mine in my small tank

I've had Reef Replicas in my tank for many years. They are not as nice as some of the new artificial corals but they are reasonably priced and have not faded or lost coloration in any way. They are all fiberglass. I like the fact that every six months or so I can pull several pieces out, soak them in some bleach water, rinse them off and they are like new. One word of advice. Don't get these large one piece replica's as they are hard to remove from the tank for cleaning. My display has 9 different pieces that allow me to remove a few at a time and avoid leaving the fish in a bare tank.

mine is a 36" x 25" reef insert. It is really heavy, not sure what it is made of. It looks very real though. My fish love it. It has several holes throughout and the fish can swim through it. Because of the curve in my 144g it is hard to tell much about it.

I use fake coral in my tank, some came from online stores and a few small ones from wally world. we clean them about every 6 weeks I like the color in my fish only tank. There is a web site that sells a kit to make your own, but I cannot find it at the moment. This is my 125g

Heres a pic of the right side of my FOWLR. The corals havent been cleaned in a month or so... but I thought Id show you them anyway. I built a rock wall from the top of the tank to the bottom and the corals slide into 3/8" pieces of cpvc pipe for easy removal. I hope to start a build thread showing the whole project which took almost a year to complete.

I'll definitely use some of those sponges in my new 240, and the brains also look quite nice. Still on the fence about the acros though...

i saw this piece on a CL by me. my LFS guy has some pretty big pieces in his tank. i'm going to have to ask him about them.

I have all fake corals in mine without any live rock, from Instant Reef, they were pricey but i had the cheaper stuff fall apart on me a few times so i figured id splurge this time and see if they last any longer lol

Do you have any pics of your tank? I would like to see that.
