anyone using phydo-feast for coral food?

just wondering how well it works. i have a bottle coming along with some tigger pods from here
.
i have a 3" xenia, a small frag of stag horn, and also a small frag of zoo polyps(5 or 6 small) under a current USA 150 hqi, in a AP 24. no other life other than 5 or 6 hermits and a couple snails.
im aware of over feeding the stuff, wanna make sure i keep my first ever coral healthy.

i used it... but i was causing bubble algea so i stopped.. reef roids and cyclopeeze gave me good feeding responces

next time you order from them order roto feast. it's a better food for your corals than the phyto feast. what the phyto feast does is feed the filter feeders in your tank and other organisms that feed on microalgae like your pods. good food for the natural food sources that can be found in your tank but not much good for feeding your corals. the tiger pods should be good for your corals though. try the roto feast for your corals though they will love it.

i was under the impression that it can fed LPS and SPS corals?

I feed it nightly, and it helps pods, clam, sponges, featherdusters, etc, plus the candycane and euphyllia expand considerably when it is in the tank. I get quite a lot of growth out of acropora aculeus and montipora digitata and foliosa.

I feed it nightly also, though I started more slowly than the suggested serving size. I started adding it ~20drops/night; now I add ~40drops/night. My main intention in adding it is for my pods. I haven't noticed any adverse effects to using it. My flowerpot usually expands when I add it.

Pretty bold statement about the bubble algae. Heres my otherside to that penny. Ive used phyto alot in the past, and really started being consistant and saw my pod population in full bloom in turn keeping my sandbed and rocks clean, and my softies were getting to big for my tank. And then I stopped. And then I got bubble algae, and lots of it! Do I blame the phyto, no. Do I blame myself for not continuing to use it, kinda, but moreso me and the one bubble that I brought into my tank and I didnt remove, cuz I was too lazy to lift up a few rocks

Btw I agree with sk8er, I notice my frogspawn inflate up with it too, as well as some of my other LPS.Will I buy more phyto feast?You bet! Im sold on the roti feast too, acros, pocci's,stylos and LPS love it.

I also believe if you keep a healthy stock of filter feeders thriving in your tank they can help big time with mishapps and excess nutrients, kinda like an extra buffer against algae blooms and such.

with the corals i have(xenia's, zoo's, and a stagghorn) would the phydo-feast be more appropriate or the rotii-feast?
im expecting the phyto to be in today, and will use it and see what happens.

but till i use it all would it have been better to get the roti-feast insted as indicated by AndyB4784? it seems they claim both would be good food for LPS's and SPS's...

Randy Reed actualy came in to the LFS that i work and gave a presentation on the various Reef Nutrition lines. his recomendation to us for SPS and LPS was roti-feast. i personaly feed my tank the roti-feast and the phyto-feast. I also like DT's oyster eggs for my SPS. just my opinion on the phyto is that most of the corals eat the copepods that eat the phyto so it is still making it's way to the coral just in the guts of little critters that ate it. hope this helps.

well i recieved my order from reeds. 6oz bottle of phyto and a bottle of tiggers. came cold packed and shipped in insulated styro-foam. very nice!! the pods were big. avg size was at least 1.5-2mm. cant say i was impressed by the count. although i wasnt going to count them. but i assume they on their target. i gues i was expecting something like... "wow, they gave me alot" but i was excited non the less. followed their acclimating guides and added right in my tank. man can they swim...lol
i used the phyto right away, but only added 5 drops for now(24 ap) and slowly biuld up. no noticable change in appearance/reaction yet for my xenia or zoo's.
over-all, im happy with my purchase! $41.00, next day service, excellant packing and excellant customer service. very informative website i might add too.

I was surprised to see the number of Tigger-Pods in a 6oz. bottle also. I was expecting to see alot more. I added about half to my tank, and I've been trying to culture the rest . . . its been about a month and I haven't noticed any population explosion with my culture, but I think they are reproducing some.

The packaging from Reeds is definitely top-notch. My only complaint was that their webpage is poorly organized and difficult to navigate.
