Anyone using Sealab 28 blocks?

Hello everyone. I'm new to RC. I can't explain how much help this is going to be. I've been in the hobby for 3 years but just came across the site and all info i will ever need is here. I have a 24 Gallon nano cube which i have upgraded the light to the new K-2 clamp-on halide. I am currently dosing Kent liquid calcium and it is working fine but i wanted to know if the Sealab blocks would supply a more constant supply? Thanks for any info.

I use them. My LFS just got in the kilo sized ones, they are huge! I have a lot of calcium uptake in my tank even while dosing kalk 24/7 and these do a great job of keeping my calcium right at 400ppm consistantly. On the down side they are used up in about 2 days in my tank, thats why i'm going with the kilo sized ones now.

They do an OK job of maintaining calcium in a tank without a huge demand. Don't believe the part on the label that says they maintain alkalinity though, they do nothing for it.

They do a good job of keeping up calcium but you will still need buffer for alk. My question is: why put up with the expense? Those blocks aren't cheap. Go to the chemistry forum and learn how to make Randy's Two Part additives. This stuff is super cheap, very easy, and does a great job maintaining both calcium and alk.

I used them in my 12 gallon and they had my parameters way outta wack. They might be okay for larger tanks but IMO, no good for smaller nano-reefs.
