Apex Control of Elos E-lite 3S LED

Hello everyone

I want to add a control system to my 160. I want to be able to monitor and control as much as possible using the Ipad and/or networked PC/mac

I was looking at the Neptune Apex controller but I didnt know if this system will integrate nicely with the Elos E-lite 3S Lighting. I currently have 3 E-lites on my setup. I wanted to be able to do dimming, moonlight, storms etc using an ipad or system touch screen.

My question is will the Elo E-lites work or should I be looking at changing out my lighting?

PS: I already have the evision from elos but this seems like its not as user friendly as the Apex.

Thanks for any input

Are your lights controlled with a 0-10dc signal? If so then yes the Apex can control it.

I have to check I really don't know. I have the tempo 4 channel Timer and evision controller and the large power supply box that comes with the 3 lights. but I like the looks of the apex.

This is what I bought to start out with. You need to get 2 of the cables to control 4 channels. If you haven't bought yours yet, PM me -- I'll let you in a great deal I found.

Neptune Systems Apex Wireless Expansion Module (WXM) NS3335 1
2 Channel Apex to Light Dimming Cable Neptune Systems AquaController NS5555 2
Neptune Systems Apex AquaController System with Standard Grade pH Probe NS11087 1

Hey thanks. I can only send PM to moderators until I get 10 posts..
5 more posts to go.. now I have to go find some interesting things to post on

nyoneway, I am hearing the elos lighting is not 0-10 DC it is PW (or something like that) 0-10 and most likely will not work with the neptune apex.
Hopefully that info I received is not correct. Let me know how it goes.

Yeah I just hope Jesse is not talking about on-off only. Since I was told on-off will work but we obviously want more then on-off only

and If it doesn't work I have been looking at other lighting systems but I will say the elos is a sleek nice looking thin design and I cant seem to find anything as attractive.

How do you have yours installed? I have 3 of them suspended from the ceiling which I dont think I like. I want to try and find a matching wall bracket to hide the 3 power cables

i have the mounting bracket on the 3L, since i have the elos 100, i was able to get away with 1 light... it looks extremely clean with it. i think this is the only light which i prefer the mounting bracket over ceiling mount..

for you ceiling mount probably looks best.

Here are my 3 E-lites the big thing that bothers me is the white wire that sticks out from them. If maybe they would have integrated that with the hanging cable somehow.. Not sure what to do here thats why I am looking at other lights.

i played around with the apex today, and was able to get it to control the Elos 3L. Took a few hours, was not plug and play. As you said, the Apex VDM is 0-10vdc. I had to hook it up to a converter 0-10vdc -> 5pwm.

Works:
Control 4 LED channels/color independently
Adjust LED intensity

There is one drawback. The signals are reverse. The Elos LED driver is designed to turn on 100% in the absence of a signal, and turn off when PWM = 100%, etc. ON = OFF, OFF = ON. Annoying.

Hey thanks. That's great that you got it working!

I have little patience and received responses from Neptune that it would not work as well then an apex ready lighting system so I purchased the Acan 600 prism system with those crazy different colors. Apex can control all LEDs independently. Why I need that I have no idea but it should be cool.

I Received all of my apex stuff And some additional vortech mp40 wireless pumps so now to figure out how to program all of this stuff.

Hi nyoneway

I have elos aquatop 60 on my midi tank. I thinking to by Apex as a controller for dimming. Can you, please, give more details about how you connect your elos light to apex? I will be very grateful!!!
