Looking for a hang on to add to the back of my AquaPod....

I seen a few of these around, does anybody use them and are they effective?

A little different than what I am used to and what I had on my 75g reef.

Any other suggestions?

It's a mediocre skimmer IMO. IF you're looking for HOB try a Coralife Super Skimmer. Much more bang for your buck

Im happy with my remora. It gives me about a cup of skimmate a day out of my 30g.. I can confidently say that it is without a doubt the very best skimmer that I have ever owned.. and the only skimmer that Ive owned..

A cup of skimmate a day?! Wow. Heavilly stocked tank? My pro on a 56 takes forever to fill with a Mag 5. I still ike the Remora Pro though but wish I could get the performance you do.

I run a remora on my office tank and a remora pro on my home tank. I think they are great. built very well. A while ago I was considering a CSS because I have heard good things about them but I decided to keep my remoras because they do a great job.

To be fair, I am curing rock now.. so my results are likely exaggerated. However, I do find it encouraging. I have nearly a full week of actual experience in this hobby, so take it for what its worth

Well... I have seen both skimmers in action and have friends who own both. The Coralife SS will skim circles around the Remora and it's cheaper too. Infact my cheapo JEBO skimmer can skim better than the Remora.

Simple really the Remora uses an injection system that's pretty much outdated and doesn't compare to a needle wheel on the Coralife.

Anyways... It's your money :)

I read that there have been a few people have problems with the needlewheel pump that comes with the CSS. It does depend on the individual skimmer too. I was running 2 regular remoras on my office tank at the same time and one would produce about 4-5 times the skimmate than the other and they were set at the same level. The old one that I have had for over 2 years was the one skimming better than my one 6 months old.

Both the AquaC and the Coralife have good points and bad. I threw the big Coralife onto a 155 bow and it seemed to be doing a good job until it drained the tank of 40 gallons of water. All that water was due to the skimmers inconsistency. It can produce dry foam though, but also microbubbles. The Remora is my choice. It can skim. There are many better skimmers, but for $220 how can you beat a Remora Pro w/ Mag 3. If you want the best buy a Deltec. If you want a good skimmer for around $200 the remora is my choice.
