I just bought an AC Jr. a few days ago. I had it running without setting anythign up and it was fine. Basiclly just giving me a temp readout. Tonight i setup the pH probe and calbrated it. Immediatly after calibration it rebooted itself and is frozen on the

"Aqua Boot Mon Loader"

i took a look in the book and it says disconnect the power and battery so i took the power out and i opened the bak up to get the battery out but its inbetween 2 circuit boards and looks like its soldered in. I dont wanna mess with it.

What should i do?

It is a misprint in the manual about removing the battery; it is permantantly installed in the controller. The battery keeps the clock running when power is removed.
Try unplugging the unit and then reapplying power. Don't press any buttons when power is restored, until the controller boots up. You should see "Aqua Boot Mon", followed by a quick flash of "Checksum OK". Then the main AquaController program is started.
If you see the loader message, then the firmware will need to loaded. Do you have a AquaJr upgrade cable?

i tried removing the power and plugging it back in again several times for differnt amoutn of times. Up to 10 min without being plugged in. It just always freezes on Loader

I do not have an upgrade cable

It is a cable that connects from your computer to the controller to upgrade the frimware. It is a db9 to an rj11 connection. The db9 connection plugs into the computer and the rj11 connects to the temp port on the controller.

No, the cables are different. The only purpose for the SERPCJR cable is to download new firmware into the controller (DB9 -> RJ11 connector). The SERPC cable allows bidirectional communication between the AquaController and your PC (DB9->minidin 8), and can't be used w/ the ACJR.

I just got my controller today and its having the same problems. My serial # is 15041, do you know if this model has the upgraded firmware?

what type of problems? - I got mine yesterday and the ACJr behaves erratic [shuts my main pump at will, 'hangs' etc.].
Curt is looking at it now. He said that maybe I overwhelmed the ACJr with setting up the max # of timers [12] and quite a few instrution lines [30].

I've got the "Aqua Boot Mon Loader" problem. I am not happy because I paid $37 to have it overnighted before the weekend and now its locked up and the $37 was wasted!

SteveD - that's really bad. Ask Curt - maybe you'll get semething?

grego - I don't know yet. We'll be smarter once Curt finds the problem. The price point of the AC Jr is not bad for the flexibility [once it's completely debugged]. I wish I could buy the AC 3 pro ...

I was going to buy one ACJR. but after that you said, should I ?, please your opinion

It's a really cool little device, but I am now worried about reliabilty. If I had to do it over again I would of went with one of there "established" products. That being said every company has issues, but the measure is how they resolve them. So we wil see!

Please email me (support@neptunesys.com) the serial number of your controller, your address, and phone number by 2:00pm PST, and I'll make sure that you get the upgrade cable and latest firmware by Saturday. I suspect that you don't have the latest firmware in your controller. Sorry for the inconvience.
