Aquarium Idea

Yes I saw him and was like OMG MINE!!! haha so hopefully he will still be there when I have my tank ready for him. Been looking for a O.Scylarrus supplier right now, may just have to ask my lfs to get one in for me and hope for the best.

Anyone know where I can buy eggcrate? I went to home depot they didnt have any.. I went to Lowes and asked about 5 different people and they all went " eggcrate? what is eggcrate? you mean bubble wrap?"

As far as acrylic goes, look up 'plastics' in your phone book. Tap Plastic may have outlets where you are, they have one here (Maybe the main store, I am not sure...).

As far as drilling goes: I have two divided tanks, with long slats cut into them. Try a thicker acrylic, and cut 1;2 inch cuts, water flow will be better than holes.

Good luck.

the white egg crate or whatever i bought from a local hardware store. It was in the lighting section, and is used to diffuse florescent lights for industrial use (i think). I had to add the black mesh because i had a fish that could get through the white holes. I got that from Home Depot, and it is used for plant protection.

Its way ugly! You should figure something out that looks better, so that I can copy it!

Yes as i said earlier, the Black version they say looks like 100% better, but I have to figure a way to make mine stand at a right angle with the sand.

Ok, the people that work at my home depot officially know nothing at all. I asked for lighting diffusers and i swear everyone I asked went "I have never heard of that. What it used for?". Fnally called my stepdad and he told me exactly where they were. I was going to buy the Metallic Acrylic sheets but they wre 27$ per sheet and I figured I'd need about 4 of them. Instead I took the 7$ ones and am going to set it up today and over the weekend. I'm figuring on buying one of the pseudosquillas from sharky's Reef since they have 2 and will probasbly ask my LFS to get me in a decent size mantis so I have some excitement to what it may be :). Will post pics once I re-setup my rocks/corals/divider.

I know it is a little late but an idea just came to mind. You could try a chaeto wall. It needs an egg crate and a lot of chaeto macro algae. Then you just thread the chaeto through the holes in the egg crate, or use a skewer to stick them in. But if you use the skewer it will tend to start growing to the top and not keep tothebottom. it would take some time but it would look good, allow flow and even remove some nutrients :) If you want to see the thread I got it from go to clubswam.org in the forums. There is a DIY and log forum. Near the bottom there is a thread called chaeto wall.

hmmm thats not a bad idea, I have some macro algae in my refuge with my N.Wen. Would caulerpa be good to use instead of chaeto?

I would immagine. You could weave the vines back and forth to make a natural looking divider. And it would probly stick better because it is easier to weave vines than hundreds of long strands of little wires. But is would probably take ALOT of caulerpa to fill the screen if it went from top to bottom and front to back....

My camera is on the Fritz...my divided tanks aren't filled yet, standing on end. 80 gallon long, thick acrylic plate in the middle. I'll try for some photos tomorrow...

Same with mine. I can't seem to get the divider perfect, and it feels like its about to snap, so i have it angled a bit, but it looks good so far. :) Pics will hopefully be up on monday.
