I was in a store today and the LFS guy tried to tell me that when aquarium manufacturers use some sort of glue or adhesive in addition to the silicone sealant to put tanks together.
I don't believe that's true. I have heard that they use some kind of acid to wash where the silicone will be applied. Ask someone that makes custom tanks.
