No experience necessary??

No experience necessary??

The no experience necessary part bothers me, unless they are going to be a ride along helper to a competent person. The young man that helped me set up my tanks encouraged me to learn not only what to do- testing, water changes etc, but why I am doing it, so I could react to certain events- ie a death in the tank. He also encouraged me to research whatever I was going to put into my tank, BEFORE purchasing. Knowledge is key to success in dealing with these fragile eco-systems.

I hope someone from the forum is able to secure employment with them, though the wages would barely support a 55 gallon tank. Love of the hobby, knowledge of livestock and tank maintenance, as well as work ethic would be inherent in the person I would want to hire to work on my tanks. If I need someone to just lug buckets, I can hire a high school kid.

I contacted them and its a lost cause from my standpoint. I was a real techie for a while and did some nice tanks, and what they want is more of a ''used car salesman'' approach.

sometimes its better to get someone fresh so you can train them your way....as we all know there are a lot of ways for maintaining systems...

Just poking around at lunch and caught this thread...I don't reply much, but I thought I needed to.

Aquariclean actually has set up my tank and a few friend's tanks and they do a nice, professional job. I think your focus on the 'no experience' part is somewhat misplaced.

Sometimes, the best employees start from the ground up. That way they can be trained in the way that the employer wants things done, not in how they were taught at another company...or at some large retail chain that doesn't understand the difference between service and sales.

When you consider that it's an entry level salary, I think there has to be a bit of give an take. I know that they wouldn't send someone who is not 'up to par' to a client's house to do a set up...whether it's a small tank or a large one. That's not good business sense...especially in a service industry.

All I can say is that my experience with Aquariclean has been a good one, however they choose to bring people into their organization is their business, as long as the end product and level of service is worth it to us customers.

Sorry for the long winded response...and I'd buy another 'used car' for them when I'm ready to upgrade.
