with my last tank i had my daylights on for 9-91/2 hours and always had more algae than i wanted

with my new tank i started a month ago im only leaving the daylights on for 6-61/2 hours and i do notice less algae and more color on the live rock but is this amount of time good enough for photosynthetic corals like polyps-zoas-and other soft corals

in fact any coral for that matter?

What kind of lights do you have? An important thing to remember IMO is that lights alone don't cause algae problems. I would attack the algae in every other way possible before jumping to reduced lighting.
