are they gonna get killed?

right now, I have 5 fish in my 40 breeder LPS dominated tank-
yellowtail damsel
falco hawk
sixline wrasse
tiny GSM clown
female YWG

I'd like to add two more fish to this group, and have four possibilities in mind:
starry blenny (this I really, really want)
royal gramma (probably not) or purple dottyback or candy hogfish (out of the three I'm quite partial to these two latter options)

I'm a bit worried about the blenny vs the hawk, and very much worried about the gramma/dottyback/hog vs the wrasse, as well as worried the dottyback might eventually become too aggressive (now, the tank is actually quite harmonic, aside from the YWG's frantic chasing of fish from its burrow- especially the hawk- nothing really bothers or even notices anything else) or that the gramma/hog would be too peaceful to withstand the initial hostility when I first add them.

so, would these guys work, and which of the three latter choices would be best, do you think? any help is greatly appreciated.

Even though maroons are beautiful, I'd trade it for a pairs or Occes. Ten you may get away with a couple/three more fish. As is, if you plan to keep the maroon long term, I think you're stocked.

yeah, I think I might just end up removing her. I definitely dont picture being able to keep her once she's hit maturity- I know how large/aggressive maroons can get, and I don't think the 40 will be large enough for her, plus other fish. I have a cube I could turn into a species tank for her and some BTA's, or I could re-home her.

I ended up removing the maroon after finding the yellowtail damsel trying to chase her out of the tank; it had been looking like she had finally settled in the tank, but I'm worried that she's just too little to have made it in there long-term. she's now in my 5.5 while I decide on what to do with her.

that opens up some room in the 40, and I think I have an idea now of what I'd like to do with it:
pair of ocellaris or percula clowns
purple dottyback
starry blenny

I'm hoping that if I get large enough clowns, the damsel will be less inclined to try and beat the sh*t out of them- plus, I figure larger clowns should be able to fare their own. my old pair of large perculas fended off his attacks just fine, so I'm thinking that this new pair should do alright against him.

from the reasearch I've done, it seems like the starry blenny should be okay with the hawk. since they dont look alike, and since they have somewhat different diets, I'm thinking I'll be okay. plus, starry blennys arent exactly the wimps of the blenny world, so I figure it has a pretty good chance, and my hawk is pretty peaceful, I think.

the only real potential problem I see is the dottyback- I would really like to include one, however, they're quite pretty little fish.

Even without the maroon, you've got some aggro fish in that tank already. Sixlines can be quite nasty in time, and your yellow-tail has already shown signs of bullying other fish. I'm not sure it will tolerate occelaris or percs any better than it did your maroon, since they're all damsels.

The starry may be ok. They're great fish and normally don't bother anything. I would skip the dottyback unless it's a fridmani or sankeyi, which are know to be a little more mellow.

the damsel really wasnt that bad to the maroon- no torn fins, definitely no markings on the skin, didnt really bother her much. I had the same damsel with a pair of fullly grown/matured percula clowns (both pushing 3") and had no problem with the combination, and they were added well after the damsel. if the percula clowns dont work out, I'll put them in my NC24 and re-home the maroon. besides some initial posturing towards newcomers, the damsel really isnt an aggressive fish.

are purple dottybacks really that bad? I would try something like an orchid or fridmani, but both seem to be fairly timid fish; I dont want fish that I will rarely see, I want out-and-about fish.
