Assessor compatibility

Hello, we just read your article. I had a question regarding the compatibility of keeping both a blue and yellow assessor in our 135g. We've had a blue assessor for about 2 months and he eats well and actually is out quite a bit. I'd really like to add a yellow assessor. The article states you may be able to keep more than one assessor, but I could not see where it addresses whether you can keep a blue and yellow assessor together. Maybe color does not matter?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice! :)

hi karen,

truthfully, i would caution against it. if it was the other way around though....

yellows are pretty skittish, especially when compared to blues. the blues are definately more outgoing. i've even heard stories of the blues becoming aggressive in tanks once established. hence my worry about adding the yellow *after* an establsihed blue.

however, as i always say, you can give it a try, but be prepared to take immediate defensive action and remove one of the fish. and as always, please report back on your results if you do try!

Thanks for the advice! It's very much appreciated and I'll think seriously before I decide.

You never see the blues around here and the one time I did I snapped "him" up. I noticed the yellows will hang upside down or sideways, but my blue doesn't do that at all. Is that a habit that only yellows do?

i've seen the blues do that, but not nearly as often as the yellow. i think the blues do it more out of curiousity, while the yellow actually prefer to sit upside down and at wierd angles.
