I have one Aussie acro, not sure of correct name. It started out a very red color and now a very pale pink. What am I missing? I will upload picks when I find my camera.......

Could be a number of things, obviously based on what it is...where you got it...and your tank setup/parameters.

Provide some more info, as well as a picture of yours....or one that you believe to be the same piece as you have to narrow down this enigma.

Tank is a 140 with a 75g sump. Approx. 25g refugium. XP 2000 cone skimmer.
400w 12k Reeflux in lg. Lumenbrite reflectors.
450 ca
9 alk
mg 1350
NO3-0
PO4 undect. (no hannah meter)
I run GFO and GAC in reactors from BRS.
I have to clean the glass 2-3 times a week. Tank is very clean. Only been up for about 4 mos. Had been running the lights pretty high off of water surface to mainly acclimate frags. Moved the lights down last weekend. I use 2 part for dosing and dose nothing else. Was dosing vodka and MB7 but quit. Got tired of fighting cyno. Since stopping the tank is much cleaner and clearer. That is also when I started running GFO. Although the coral was loosin color before these changes. Wasn't sure if maybe dosing some potassium(?) maybe would help. Water changes are performed every 2 wks along with changing out carbon. Not really a big fan of additives. Use Brightwell salt for now. May be switching to Reefcrystals or back to Tropic Marin Pro.

Here are a couple pics taken before it started loosing its color or bleaching.

Don't have a recent pic. right now but since these were taken it has started to encrust varily well and is now a pale pink. Will take a pic of what it looks like now. An ID would be nice to:cool:

Maybe it's the maturity of the tank? I think so too but not sure, I didn't start to add sps until a year latter, after the tank was set up and I started with digi's.
Maybe not enough disolved organics?

I think you might have a aussie red fire stick (as I know it) if so I have one too it was the only sps not growing. I started to feed my fish more and have noticed better growth. I have a PM skimmer rated for 250 gal. and a aquac rated for 120gal on a 90 gal tank.
your tank might be runing to clean
I know some one else that bought a frag of the same colony and his grew twice as big as mine and he wasn't using a skimmer. That's the reason I started to feed more.

The tank had been up and running without lights for about 16 mos. No live stock. Lights have been up for last 4 mos. I skimmed the you know what out of it for that period of time before putting any light on it. Cooking the rock so to speak. Maturity might be it but this is the only coral in the tank that has done this. Growth has been slow for all corals in the tank but I attributed it to the fact the lights were so high above water till last week. Bottom of reflectors were about 18" above water which put the bulb @ approx. 21 1/2". Now the reflectors are 11 1/2" above. I'm thinkin maybe to clean. May need to start feeding more often and heavier. Hmmm:hmm5:
