astrea harboring pyramidellidae

Ron Popeil

Love them clownfish.
wiping my glass yesterday, i noticed, on the underside of an astrea snail, several little cone shaped snails. i looked in knop's book, and the pictures, look identicle from what i can see to pyramidellidae snails.
i took out the astrea, cleaned its underside of the tiny milimeter sized snails and proceeded to search the underside of my clams. but, in a shock, i couldnt find anymore of those tiny snails. even amongst the huge scutes of my squamosa. and at night, i looked, and couldnt see any snails either.
what does this mean? could they only be parasitizing my astreas? is there another place i should be looking around my clams for these parasites?

thanks for the help.
