attatching foot

I just bought my first clam a 2'' squamosa and was curious as to how long it usually takes them to attatch there foot, either in the sand or on the rockwork.

I personally keep my Squamosa on the sand. As far as attaching that will depends on the clam in most cases.

A good book to buy, Giant Clams by Daniel Knop or I have some of his links on my web site along with somemore eductional clam material.

I also tried to get my 2" squamosa to attach to the rock work, and all he did was walk around and get stuck in crevices. I ended up placing him in the sand and he seems happy.

It's just a matter of how much light you have getting to the bottom of your tank. Squamosa's aren't as light hungry though, especially at this small size.

I am considering getting a squamosa as my first clam. I have been told that these require the least light. I plan on getting a small one, around 2" as well, and was wondering if you guys thought 160wts of PC lighting would suffice. I know feeding is equally if not more important for these guys at this size but I'm just wondering for future reference. Also, what do you feed a clam this small. I just read the article posted by Minderaser by Ron which seemed against DTs and other dried pyhtos which is what I intended on feeding. Could I just siphon off the green algae as I scrape the front glass and target feed it to him  Thats kinda what he made it sound like. I guess he probably refers to cultured phytos Anyway. Thanks for any tips or info. Reeferaddict:bum:
