friday im going to pick up some baby clowns they are about an inch and very cute. they are wild caught clowns. i also soon plan on getting an anemone. a rbta. would it matter how long i wait to get the bta. if i wait 3 months will my clowns still host in it. my tank is also a year old and parm are fine. although what should my caluim be.

What type of lighiting do you have? Anemones need strong lighting and water flow. Plus they have to be feed.
Since they can move around having other corals can become a problem if they decide to move around on you.
The clowns might not even host in it, some will and some wont.
Calcium should be between 450 and 480 PPM.

I don't think it matters how long you wait to put the anemone in, I'm almost positive that in time they will figure things out. As far as how long you should wait on the anemone, people generally say 6months to a year but I think that the most important part is that your water param. are good. My tank has only been running for 3 months and i have an anemone that is doing very well (only reason I tried is because he was on a rock I got from a friend and refused to come off, so I figured I'd give it a shot)

I don't think you will have a prob. with waiting on the anemone. Good Luck....By the way where did you get the wild clowns?

i got them for a lfs that just sells fish they are a very good place. and i have mh lights 150w with acents = 280w

It is a good idea to wait 6 months to a year to get a Anemone since they are very sensitive to any and all chanes in water chemistry.
The reason you should wait for the 6 months to a year is within this time your tank is stabilizing or maturing and the water conditions have less of a chance of somethig getting off balance.

Beware of brooklynella (clownfish disease). One of my wild caught clowns started showing signs of it a few days after I brought him home, and my LFS owner told me it was more typical in the wild caught ones. If you see any signs of it, you need to begin treatment right away.

I believe that Randy Holmes-Farley advocates a Ca reading of between 350-450 with ~400 being the goal. That is where I keep mine and everything is doing very well in my tank.
