Baby Max mantle extension?

What kind of mantle extension should I expect of my 3/4" to 1 1/2" Maxima babies? Same as adults or no? So far their mantles extend extend up to but not past their scales/teeth. Clams get feedings of DTs every 2-3 days and are 24" from one 250w/10k MH. Anyone have pictures of what they "should" look like? Just trying to baby my babies as much as I can.

Here is a Maxima that is 1 1/2" in the LR about 18" from the 250 Isawaski. I have had it in my tank for 6 months.

I got some baby maximas that are just about one inch. Their mantle comes out about enough to cover their upper shell. I will try to wake them up and get a good picture.
