baby sitting an octopus egg, might be able to keep it, help me!!!

Hi everyone, my friend found on his live rock an octopus egg. But now hes goin to the bahamas so im watchin it. But what do we have to do to raise an egg for it to hatch. Neither of us know what to do. Thanks!

we didn't know until i stumbled upon this excellent site, and one thread has a pic of an octopus egg, and then i told him. Plus we can barely see it in there.

Has this live rock been in your tank for a while or did you just order it? Octopuses lay their eggs in batches of tens,hundreds or thousands. So if there is only one egg, I would be really surprised if it belonged to a octopus. Can you take a picture and post it?

we found only one, but we will look again. The egg is about 1 in. and is a whitish clear color. I will eventually post a pic. How do you raise an egg?

Not sure what it is, but that is not a octopus egg.
Perhaps it is a sipunculid worm?
