Back from the crash.......

Since my tank crash a little over 2 months ago, I have done a lot of tank maintainance and check on tank parameters more regularly. Still couldn't figure out the reason for the crash, but that's behind me now. All the tank parameters have been pretty steady since then. The only thing is that recently, I can't keep my Ca levels up, even with dripping dosing kalk 24/7 and using Fiji Gold. It would dip down to 350 ppm at times. Not low enough to be detrimental but sure won't keep up the growth either. Part of the reason could be that the tank is pretty fully stocked right now, even though most are just frags at this point. I plan to add a Ca reactor to keep up with the Ca demand.

pH is pretty stable at ~8.05-8.25. Mg is around 1200-1300. Haven't checked for ammonia, nitrate, or nitrite lately, but they have always been very low. PO4 is around 0.01-0.02 last time I checked. I also skim pretty wet.

Most of the SPS that survived the crash are returning to form nicely. I am getting some pretty good growth and the colors are coming back. Should be even better once I get the Ca reactor up and running. I have also acquired some frags and small colonies since to restock the tank. Well, enough talk for now. Onto the pix :D

FTS from Sunday. Yes, I know it's crowded. The plan is to see what grows well in the tank and move the others into my work tank

I think this is a Montipora confusa. It browned out during the crash. Was kind of reddish before. The leading edge is developing a nice purple color since then. Can't wait to see how this piece turns out

Another pre-crash colony. This Acro was one of the few that survived. Didn't lose too much color but is definitely looking better and showing more growth recently. Looks much bluer in person

An unknown Acro that died during the crash. Just left a little piece about the size of an eraser head. It has grown to about a half dollar size and recently started to grow a branch. Has nice neon green polyps

Another pre-crash unknow Acro. The branch are turning a nice sky blue. Polyp extensions at night. You can also see the A. tenuis in the background with the blue tips coming back

A. formosa that I got from Bluestag. Completely browned out from the crash. Moved it higher to get more light and the blue is returning

Leng Sy cap clone. The deep green and the purple rim are much brighter now. It was more yellowish 2 months ago

Nice work Kenny.

Thanks Chris. It is a little bit easier to do when the tank is small like mine

An unknow Monti that's on the right side of the FTS. It's a beautiful piece that I picked up from FragFarmer about 5 months ago. It had an amazing light neon green base with blue polyps. The neon green base is finally coming back, just waiting for the blue polyps

Some new stuff that I have acquired more recently.

Cali tort from Stryker. The base has already encrusted

Baby blue stag from Stryker

Cyphastrea japonica from fatty23

M. undata from FragFarmer and a Tyree LE soli in the front
IMG_7206.jpg

A. nobilis? Has a nice bright yellow color in person

Oh, almost forgot my M. capitata. The mocha cream colored body and the baby blue polyps are slowly returning :D

Kenny,

Looking great! I enjoyed looking at in person and it is looking even better since. I hope that I will have some SPS frags to trade with you sometime soon. I am also planning on adding a reactor and was wondering which one you are leaning towards? (I was looking at KNOP Calcium Reactor S IV).

Paul Z

P.S. What anthias is that and the blue fish in the first picture? I forgot the name. Thanks.

Paul,

Thanks. Just LMK when you are ready to do a trade. I am buying Tony's MRC CR-1 reactor package. It's got everything I need. I don't know much about KNOP reactors tho.

The fish are Hawaiian bi-color anthias and a male Watanabei angel.

Kenny,

It is really hard to find that angelfish online. I looked around and saw only the female for sale. Beautiful fish.

Paul

Paul, it's not a very common angel, especially the male. I should've gotten the female for a pair when I had a chance.

Sam, thanks. Hopefully I won't have to have another one :D

Tony, your Ca reactor better work. I know where you live. Even your new Fusion won't outrun my Nikes. I don't care what kind of mods you are planning
