i woke up this morning and checked my tank and my plate coral wasn't extending it's tenticles like usual, it was this white tringy stuff. upon closer inspection it looked like most of the mouth area was eaten out. can it recover from this and do you think it's chemical warfare since there is a brain coral not to far away?

I have a plate coral that I had written off as dead 2-3 weeks ago. Since then I put it in a spot to get more light and less flow (since I think not enough light and too much flow killed it). Its mouth was completely gone with nothing but bare skeleton visible in the mouth crevice. Since then the mouth has slowly regenerated to the point that I think it will be complete tonight. Whether or not it will start to inflate again is unknown, but it definitely appears to have grown its mouth back.

well that makes me feel a tad better. the big problem is that i will be working out of town for 4 months and my wife will be watching the tank and i know she wont give it any tender love and care.:(
