Banana Eel

going to have to tag along with this thread awesome looking setup, he seems to really be adapting quick

wow! very nice! just got a quick question, have you ever had any problems with fish and this guy? Looking to get one myself :)

Nope, he is not full grown yet so time will tell.

Getting a Eel like this means making him your center piece.
Do not over crowd him.

Your going to have a lid, secure the rocks if it means with cement or threaded rods. You need tons of hiding spots for him, and more rocks you have better filtration you will have.

Buy human grade shrimp from a local store, non-cook, not the imported crap that you get at Walmart and Publics.
Do not feed silverside, they have been know to kill fish and they suck as a food nutrition.

Always soak the food with selcon, its a must.
Will keep your fish healthy.

Okay, thanks for the advice :)
Will keep all that in mind! btw whats the best way to secure the rocks with the other fish already in the tank?
Thanks again!

Use 1/4" threaded nylon rods to slide the rocks through them.

Lowes has 12 inch long cement bits 3/8" for about $14.
Make sure to clean bit well before you use it, and do not forget to rince the rock with water.

Your going to have some fine dust, you do not want that inside your tank.
Save some of your water that you remove for your weekly change for this purpose.

This video is kind of crazy, my banana eel has a new buddy, spends most of the time with it.

That is amazing!! What an awesome eel! How big will he get? How did you discover he would let you pet him like that?

Banana Eels should get around 24 inches.

Been about 7 months of very careful handling.
Just watching and reacting to him.

Small update.

Got a good deal on XR30w x 2, so they are on the eel tank now.
Also have the doser going.

The Eel will spend hours like this every evening, very cool just to watch him.
