My living room renovation is drawing near which means I can get back to my tank. My 140 lbs of rock have been cooking for several months now and they appear to be ready. A weekend of finishing up the scratch removal of my 110 gal acrylic tank, some minor plumbing modifications, a new sump and I will be back in business.

So for you BBââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ers, suggestions on snails ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ amount and type, for my cleanup crew? Crabs not allowed as my tank will be crab free.

TIA

David

David, I like nothing but Caribbean astrea and Caribbean ceriths. That's it.
I have a couple hundred astreas and a few more ceriths to eat astrea poop and what the astreas can't get to.

Are you using Starboard or something like that?

Astrea's and ceriths -

With an acrylic tank, I wasn't planning on it, unless recommended -??

You don't need it. I used it because I was afraid I would drop a rock when I was setting the tank up, mine's glass, and I like the white bottom.

I don't think you should use that sort of formula.

I have very few rocks, nothing settling on the bottom, and a mostly empty tank in that respect. But I have a lot of glass and open bottom area.

Someone else might need a lot more snails.

After a lengthy rook cooking session, removing the sand bed, updating my plumbing, flow and electric, and to make Ms. dkh happy - finished our living room remodeling project, I will be getting my tank back up in a few weeks.

How soon should I add my clean-up crew? In my pea sized mind, if
I add them right after I start my tank back up, there isn't going to be anything for them to graze on.

TIA

Anytime after your tank has completed the nitrogen cycle. The carbon cycle will begin in earnest, so have your clean-up crew ready.

Since the rock is cooked, it is expected there won't be a cycle.

Thanks
