I am feedong phyto to my 3" maxima. I have heartd of several ways of feeding them but wondered what was the best way.

I currently take and place in a bowl I float in the tank and drop in the phyto and let him sit for a while. He is atached to a small rock so I dont have to rip him off or anything. This works but I hate the fact that I am stikking my arm into the water. can I just pour some in the tank. It is only a 30 gallon with a ten gallon sump half full.

I just feed the tank, I have a 2 - 2.5" maxima for about 7 months now it was 1.5" clam is doing good. Never bowl feed it.

thanks, and is it neccasary to suplement calcium. I do not hink so because it is only one clam but want to double check

you should check your calcium levels and see where are you at. I use limewater to keep the calcium at 400. I have picture of my crocea and maxima in my gallery :)

I have a few clams, one is a 1.5" maxima. At first I tried bowl feeding, but it was too troublesome. I think you will do fine just feeding the tank directly. Mine still looks healthy after half a year.

Shut your filters down and feed your tank. Your clam should be fine. I bowl fed a little one I had and was a pain. I finally shut the drain and return down and tank fed. I guess the sps liked it too. I just had to clean the glass more often.
