Best Magnet for large tanks???

Im about to spend some $$$ on magnets to clean my tank. Wanted to see what is everyones favorite one to use and why...... Im looking hard at the Mighty Magnets website and may go with them....My tank is 3/4" acrylic so I was looking at the F-4 magnets..... If anyone is using the Mighty magnets, what do you think about the accessories they offer???? Like the Dozer,mighty pads,etc.....

James, i bought the same magnet with Mighty pad for my 1" acrylic. I also have the Magnavore 10 but i don't think i will use it because the Mighty magnet offered different type of pads you can use..
 
The pads at mighty magnet are second to none.

Two must haves for any acrylic tank, the algae sock, and the algae dozer pad

If you've ever had those little brown diatom(??) spots (I'm not talking the light dust that any pad can easily remove) or coraline algae then you know that normal magnets really take a toll on your arm going back and forth continuously (even strong magnets cleaners, I'm not even talking about the $11.99 special), with the two above mentioned products the brown dots and coraline come off in literally two swipes (maybe a few more if its been seriously neglected) but I would even say this is easier and quicker than using a razor blade!

That being said, I use the pads with a magnavore cleaner, about 30 bucks cheaper than the MM brand ones, and probably works just as well.
 
My tank is 3/4" too and I use the Magnavore 6 ER with acrylicare pad and the brush add-on. no probs so far. does the job fine.
 
Nice! thanks guys... I will take a look at the Magnavore and the MM. One question do the Magnavores float as well??? I cant seem to find that info on their website.

I know exactly what your talking about with those brown spots, my tank has them now and they are almost impossible to get off. Thats why I need to get a magnet soon!
 
Magnavore for large tank does not float. One of the reason why I sold my magnavore 8 and replaced it with mighty magnet.
 
The Magnavore ER magnets come with an add-on pad of thin neoprene-like foam that you stick to the back of the interior magnet. makes them float fine.
I've never had anything other than the ER series, so I'm not sure about their other products.
 
I went with two of the MM F-4's. Rick with MM was a nice guy to talk to on the phone, and after spending ALOT of $$$ on magnets I hope they work as good as everyone says they do.

Also just bought the MM and the above mentioned pads. I was impressed! Those brown spots really come off with hardy any effort. A great product for all acrylic tank owners. :)
 
might magnets are the only ones to go with. I own both might magnets and magnavores and the mighty magnets are by far better.
 
Hi all,

I know this is an old post. Is it possible to use the mighty magnet pads/algae scrubber sock on a magnavore? Will it perform better than a regular magnavore?

I'm starting to get coraline algae all over my 3/4" acrylic and the magnavore isn't quite cutting it. I'd like to try the mighty magnet, but don't want to spend the money. Curious if the pads would be transferable.
