Ok I am picking out some of my last pieces of equipment for my 125g bb tank. I have picked out a couple of skimmers that would suit it but I wouldl like some input from people who have bbs or have used the skimmer before. I am going to have a high fish load.
Here is my list
Mated pair of maroons
Blue face angel
Yellow tang
Blue hippo tang
Foxface
Flame angel

What would you guys suggest out of these choices for a skimmer. I only have like 32 inches under my stand.
Here are my choices,
Berlin Turbo
Asm G3
Bullet 2
Kent Nautlius EX

Thanks
E

Avoid the berlin turbo like the plague.

I hear the Nautlius is no good either.

The G3 is working great for me. The bullet 2 is also very good I hear, however, it uses more power.

My G3 the first week. Now it makes that in less than 24 hours.

Well sounds like I will be going with the ASM g3. Could anyone recommend a submersible return pump for my sump. I was thinking like a mag 12. Are these good pumps or not. Thanks

The G3 was a major disappointment in my 120 BB. To be honest I am sorry I ever purchased it. It had to work too hard to separate the bubbles from the water, and it wasn't even that good at doing it. Plus you can't process the water fast enough thru it.

If you are able to plumb an external pressure rated pump, don't care about power consumption or noise, the bullet 2 is without a doubt the best skimmer for your 125bb

But if you definitely have keep your skimmer/sump/pumps under the stand, I don't know if a bullet would be the best option.

Have you looked into the g3+?

I have a bullet 2 under a stand, their only 24" tall anyhow... The bullet 3 is 30", ya might have a problem with that one... The only complaint I have is it was kind of touchey for the first month..

Whats the g3+? is that a mistype or are u asking me if I have looked into the G3. I have looked into a lil bit. I know many people who are please with their asms. And all I have room for under my sump is the g3 and it is rated for tanks larger than mine.

ya looked at it, also a hundred bucks more, is it worth the extra money or will it make the much of a difference?

I am putting a G3 with the recirc mod on my 38 gallon in the next week or two.

as I understand it the recirc mod is a big + to an already well working skimmer. NoSchwag is the first person that I have ever heard not like their ASM skimmer.

CeeGee there are actually tons of us that have went from needlewheel > beckett, beckett > needlewheel, or have both that will say the same exact thing.

I'm not singling out the G3, that's just what I had.

KingsX I agree, very touchy. But now that I have a feel for it and know about where it's supposed to be, this thing is great. I love knowing that my skimmer will stay dialed in where I want it.

I would try a G3 on a 38, but definitely not on a 125 BB tank where your ONLY filtration is a skimmer.

Really what it comes down to is how fast you can skimm that crap out. So you want a skimmer with a big pump imo.

This is why I like the bullet series of skimmers by Precision Marine. They use large pumps, with maximum flow, removing the particles faster than any Euro reef would do.

In one word, go with a becket skimmer.(imo)

Ok ya I have been thinking about this and the g3 is out. Does anyone think that the g4 plus would work for my tank. I might be able to get some more money together and be able to swing one. Let me know what you guys think.
