Best way/location to place chalice coral?

I have a frag of chalice that is orange/red with some green centers. How do I tell which edge should be the mounting side (if this matters at all?)

Also do they like lower light levels?

Can I just set it in a nook/cranny and let it attach itself?

Typically they don't like alot of light. But from my experience red colored ones like alot of light. To be safe you can always start it low in your tank and raise it up. Unmounted and on the sand is a very bad idea.

If at all possible find out what enviroment it came out from. What type of lighting did the past reefer have it in and where. Thats always the best and adjust according to your tank.
