I got in a new return pump and another phos reactor. The last time I didn't clean my reactor and I didn't skim for a bout a month. :-\ So this time I want to get all oils and what not off.

very warm tap water until the outside of the equiptment is just as warm as the inside.
this will help with skimmers that have micro-bubbles as well.

Then you need a gentle detergent. Plain Jane hair shampoo is pretty much reef safe and doesn't contain phosphate. Give it a soak and rinse real well under tap water. Place it in some RO/DI, if you want to be super safe, and let it dry. Should be fine to use after that.

Get the unscented type, without the rinse agents, for the best results.

I have Castile soap which I hear is great to use. I was planning on doing a soak with that and then a plain jane soak. How long a soak should I do?

Thanks guys,
Ser

aslo WaterKeeper, it can be soaked in a vinegar-RO/DI mixture warmed in the microwave. i just look at an easy and efficient way out.
