I understand a lot of people on here are against bioball because they trap detritus w/o converting nitrates to nitrogen so they can spike nitrates. If one was to use bioballs in a sump after other filtration media i.e. filter sock and protien skimmer, would there not be a minimal amout of trapped detritus? How does one clean bioballs?
