So I picked up a used biocube 14 the other day and wanted to upgrade it. nothing too crazy. I want to know if I should add a powerhead assuming Ill having a mixed reef with possibly a couple sps frags. I cant seem to find a skimmer to use or if one will even be needed.

I wanted to show you my shopping list and see if anyone had a better recommendation for any of these small upgrades.

basically my question is are their similar items out there that are better in the same price range. or are some of these items not need at all. mixed reef is goal. medium stocked.

I think you can save and make your own media basket using egg crate, upgrade to mj1200 and just get a koria rotate nozzle. Look into the reefbreeder nano wifi, its wifi and you can control each channel. You need to take measurements to make sure it fits inside the hood. I belive it will fit if you gut the inside hood. Thats what i would do, if u need more flow look at the jebao rw4.

I will look into thereef breeder and the jebao. although I did like the design of the innovative marine spin stream over the Korlia flo. think the korlia is better?

also what do you think about the fuge light? someone also recommended coralife mini light.

Here is my 29g biocube, i also have a 6g biocube. IMO a tank this size isn't really needed especially if you plan on doing regular water change. i do use a media basket for filter pad n chemipure blue.

also how often do you change your filter floss? I read in a video on intank to change 1-2 times a week. I dont think I would like that option if another is available.

I your 14g i would keep no more then three small fish, maybe a pair of clown fish and a small goby. Im my 6g i have a pair of clown fish. On my 29g i have 3 rbta, yellow watchman goby, bicolor blenny n a few clown fish n some soft corals. I change my two or three times a year, i do a water change about 3 or 4 times a year only.
