BIOCUBE 29 HQI owner thread.

The biggest 2 differences are display size and the ammount of modules that can be controlled. The lite is limited to 4 modules (pc4's, sl1's, sl2's, MLC's etc...) I'm not 100% sure how many the elite can control but I seem to remember it's quite a few more than 4. For my single tank system the lite is plenty capable of controlling everything attatched to the tank and I still have 1 more module I could add. The other cool thing about digital aquatics is they have an upgrade program which allows you to start with the lite, and they will trade in your lite towards an elite later.

do they run constant power items also? or just things on timers?
(like my sump return, powerheads, heater.....)

Heres some pictures, They suck, but hopefully I will be able to get you guys more sundayish. Also, the left side looks MUCH more dim because it is. I had two LED's dead on the left side when I took these pictures, it has since been fixed. LED's make your corals pop more than any other lighting out there.......period. I have used VHO/T5HO/MH/PC and now LED and I like LED a LOT, I probably will never go back to MH again. Work/school has been driving me insane so I havent even been home to look at my tank while lights were on. But here are the pictures. :)

I was thinking about running a sump like that, but with my energy consumption at around 80-90 watts max throughout the day....im down with what I have. :)

i bellive MH lights make corals look better. as long as the corals are healthy. also depends on the kelvin rating. and MH and LED make the water shimmer the same.

i like LEDS but being an electrican i know when they go out (they do last a long time but not forver, its not a cheap fix)
no is MH liging re placeing a blul 7-9 months @ $54 a bulb........ that add up quick also.

what LED fixture do you have?

put some electrical tape over a couple lights to dim it a bit.

I will a bit later today. I transferred most of the stuff from my 14G, so I have some nice rocks…
I am so glad to be back into this!!!

How is the light that came with this tank? What can I grow in here and what should I not?
Thanks

Hey Guys, Im thinking about getting back into the reef game and considering the Bio Cube 29 HQI. Just wondering what you guys are doing for actinic lights and does the 150mh spray light all over the room or does it just light up the tank.

here is my first pic, I don't have to much in here other than some hermit crabs , snails and 2 chromis

when light was breaking in had a litle light into the room, now pretty much all into the tank.

Looks great so far Jhigga15:beer:

Did you mount the entire 12.5" Stunner Strip across the front of the HQI? It looks that way in the photo, but I may have misses something. Screw it on or use the adhesive tape? No melt from the HQI?

yes all 12.5 ( i wanted to cut it, but thats not possible)
i used the adhesive tape the stunner strip comes with and its worked great so far! 4 months going strong
no melt, still look like new
