I'm not ready to buy yet,

But since i have a Rose BTA, my wife and i were thinking a pair of black clown fish would really look good with the rtba.

Current fish in the 55g reef tank
Lawn Mower Blenny
Mandarin

i'm planning on getting a Diamond Goby

When the rbta gets bigger, i would like to get a pair of black clowns

And i want an angel fish, havent picked one,

First, are there any cons to the black clowns ?
Second, where's the best place to get a pair of black clowns?
Third, what fish would you add with that collection ? (just taking suggestions getting ideas)

They're just clownfish. All clownfish are related to damsels if that tells you anything, so just be prepared for them if they get more aggressive. What type of black clownfish are you going to get? There are quite a few. A. percula, A. ocellaris, A. sebae, A. clarkii, and A. polymnus all have commonly available black variants.

First, I would SERIOUSLY reconsider before putting a mandrian and a diamond goby in a 55. Then, rethink the angelfish, unless you're considering a pygmy angel (something in the centropyge genus) it's just going to outgrow your tank. And if you're going to have a mandrian AND a diamond goby AND an angelfish AND a pair of clowns... that's pretty much all the fish a 55 needs unless you're going to be skimming heavily, etc.

That said...
Clowns with an anemone are always a nice, classic choice. Like any clown, they might get a bit aggressive/territorial as they become larger, so you want to consider that in terms of when you add them and particularly what fish you add AFTER them. My preference (purely personal preference) is for A. perecula or A. ocellaris.

I'd recommend doing some reading... my personal favorite being R. Fenner's "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist." Someone recommended it to me when I started, and I still use it on a regular basis. There are also a number of excellent books and websites which address the environmental needs of individual species, including temperment, adult size, and other such useful information. Best of luck!

thank you for the feed back,

i was thinking that with the clowns, mandarin, and possible angel i might be maxed out, was kinda looking to see if there was anything other than an angel we might look at adding

as far as the black clowns, havent decided yet which one, i figure with the anemone's still a bit small i have a bit of time to figure it out.

I just love A. polymnus. It has a unique pattern and will host just about anything. I've had a few come up out of the water while bagging the anemone it was hosting. It's a cool little fish and is usually not very aggressive.
