Have any of you guys and gals ever heard of a Black maxi. I was told by a guy in LA that he had one. Everyone I spoke to said that there is no such animal. Just wanted to ask. He said that its midnight black with blue specks. Thanks,
Rob

They arent common, but arent impossible to come bye either.

Ussually they dont even cost more than a regular Ultra Maxima.

That said, I still love them and yearn to buy one. I had the chanch a while back, but I was too late...

A white stripe black Maxima, is going to take up residence in my tank someday. Need to find one first, they are really spectacular IMO.

Here is one I found. I'll try and take a better one and post it later.

I've Never seen a STRAIGHT black one (though I'm sure there's gotta be one out there somewhere), but I've seen Black ones with white speckles and ones with blue speckles. Looks like your starting at the stars. I should have hopped on that when I had the chance, but I decided to get green one instead. Also a good choice. Ive seen them also at http://www.reefscience.com/ and http://www.thelogicalreef.com/index.html . The Logical reef also has a GREAT guy running the Biz. He get's his stuff from ORA, or more like at ORA since he goes there in person to pick up his stock. Johnrags said it right about their rarity. They are nice and I feel fortunate to have one.

I have 4 of these clams, well 3 now as I gave Dattack one to place in his tank. They are just as hardy as any other farm raised maxima clam. The rarest of the rare are the black and white with no light green or any other colors in the mantle. Pure black and white are the choicest.

Black with blue speckles is actually a very common and many times considered a "1st" grade clam. Like I said above, the black and white tiger striped that are pure black and white with no hint of green in their mantle are the rarest and most expensive.
