Black Out Results..

Just a suggestion, if the blackout killed the mystery algae, then a good size water change might be in order, to remove whatever organics were released...is your skimmer pulling out ton's of muck??

Yea....I hate to agree in this case....but if the only thing you did was to turn the lights off for a day, this stuff will come back. It seems to be being fed by either your lighting or a combination of your lights and nutrients in the water.

I hope it doesn't come back, but if it does, you'll know that the light trick is not a solution....only a temporary fix.

mm stop it.. I know how you feel, i get it.. but not convinced..
I am probably over feeding pellet food, the lights out will set it back and the changing of habits will help..

hurley ,mm is just bashing the hamilton bulbs.. And we both know that you also use them....

I am kinda following the path that was done in the post mentioned above

A sandbed or bacteria boost while those lights are out can help combat whatever is going on too.
