hello everyone,

i have acollection of about 20 blastos for about five years now.

i do a water change every two weeks, add new carbon every month and my water quality is great with my deltec skimmer and also my refugium.

my issue is that slowly i have been losing blastos that have been in my tank growing.... i have lost several blastos and i cant figure it out!!!!!!!

the tank temp is the same. the only is that my XM bulbs are old... but blastos don t really like light and all the other corals SPS are doing great?????

Has anyone ever had this issue?
I took some of the blastos out and bathed them in fresh water and then did a coral dip.

seems to have worked and stopped the slow death of polyps.

thanks for any advice

i recently had a problem similar to yours. i blamed my cleaner shrimp and removed them but im not sure this was the problem. so far no more problems with blastos but it has only been a few days.

Only speculation and may be counterproductive. But my own personal concern about the downward spiral of bulb life is that I worry if the color shift is one toward a unhealthy spectrum of light, let alone an unusefull one.

On another note when I was seeing a recession in my blastos, I noticed later that my alkalinity was slightly off kilter, and my phosphate levels were less than desireable. Another good idea is to keep your eye on magnesium levels to ensure that there able to utilize the calcium in the tank for there skeleton/growth.
