Blastos care

I recently added some beautiful red/green blastos to my tank and I absolutely love em. However, I dont know much of how to take care of them so could you advise me on whats the best way to care for them and what NOT to do. (supplements, feeding, lighting, position...etc...)

29 gallon tank with 30 lbs of live rock and 136 pc lighting. Thanks

BTW...I added a different species of blastos to my tank that came shipped with 3 heads but 2 of the heads had already died during shipping. Any chance that they will grow back? How do blastos grow anyways? Do they form new skeletons or are they encrusting?

Blasto Welsi's like low light/low flow area's. I would think of possibly shading your piece and keeping it on the sandbed.

I feed mine with frozen mysis that I thaw with tankwater.
Take a turkey baster and gently baste a few shrimps onto the disk of the blasto. It will take like 30 seconds for it to close around the shrimp so turning off your pumps is a good idea when doing this. Also feeding with cyclopzeez once in a while is a good idea but I mainly do the mysis.

Blasto Welsi's are very slow growers, I have had most of mine for several months and have seen minimal growth.

Are your dead blasto's Merletti's or Welsi's?

And just so you can identify them

The red blasto here is a Welsi:

I don't have a picture of my Merletti but it has the thickness of a pencil and has a head on the top of it.

is calcium dosing required for blastos? i have a 20g tank with very little coral stock..(only a blasto frag and favia). i currently do 10% weekly.

i think you should have a calcium level as a goal and stick w/ it. i don't want to give you a number but i think the stability is important.

i think the calcium will help the merletti's more than the wellsi's, primarily because they are branchy and grow faster.
