blastos Tough to keep?

Not terribly hard. Medium-low flow, medium-high light (I'd say only MH and good T5 systems.. I never had much success with LPS under PCs). Make sure all your parameters are in line and relatively stable.

I'd say try a cheap one. If it works, then you are OK to get another. If not, hey it was a cheap one anyways.

I had great success with many LPS under PC's including blastos before I upgraded to MH's. I have found that my blasos like to be place low to mid in my tank under the 250's. I had one up high and lost it :(

well, growth has been quite slow, maybe a polyp or two..... they are in the sand, perhaps if i moved them up they would speed it up a little.... but they look good.. :)

If you have wellsi try to feed them once a week with mysis shrimp! If you feed them they grow much faster.I have several and they seem to do better with a little shade and not much flow! There are many color morphs, one of my favorite corals.

I keep my reefs at 410- 420 mainly because SPS. I think its more important to keep tank stable, alk, cal etc than trying to get higher numbers! Main thing with wellsi is not to much flow and not directly under MH. Also to feed them mysis weekly. HTH
