I'm having trouble with my mushrooms starting to turn white. I had them in medium light and moved them to a lower light area and they are still getting whiter? Just moved it to high light area. What do you think the trouble is?

Whats your nitrates like?
What are your water parameters? Temp? Flow?

Alot of things can affect the coral, more information would be usefull.

Hi aquarius77, My parameters are;
Nitrate 0
KH=10
Mag=1300
phos=.5 I'm trying things to get it down/I have fuge
PH 8.0-8.2
Ca=430
Temp 79-81deg
lighting is in sig.

Oh yea the salinity is 1.023 with and ATO.
Circulation is a mag 7 from return and a MJ 400 in back of rock and a MJ 900 & 1200 at both ends. I'm waiting for 2 tunze nano 6025's to come in stock. To replace MJ's

I have no clue except maybe you gave them too much light? Do you have any pics ?

Here are my hairy shrooms, are they the same as yours? These babies are on the waters surface under a 150w HQI MH, they love the light in my tank.

Your looks great! I like that the tips are green. I will take pic in a few hours when the halides come on. By what you said, and how yours looks I think I may have been going the wrong way, going away from the higher light levels. Looks like it is ok with good light under yours!

You bleached those shrooms going from PC to MH, without a doubt.

My shrooms were acclimated to that much light by slowly raising them up. I have more of them in my sump under 96w PC. I had one on the bottom of the sump and moved it up 3/4 the way to the top and within a few days i noticed a few white tips. You got to change their light slow from what i can tell and the jump from pc to mh looks like it really took its toll on yours.

Move it into the shade if at all possible, they should come back. Once they regain their color bring them out into some light, then over the course of a month or so move them where you are going to want to keep them.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Feeding them should help them recover faster, if they will eat for you then feed them with some pellets or some meaty foods like mysis.

I have never tried to feed them. I have some mysis so I will try that with a turkey baster. Yea, before it was close to my bubble tip and my perc would feed it sometimes. That could be contributor as well. Good Idea.
